Daaaaaang this is a total bop!

I knew I was hearing the ProjectSAM animation VST when I first heard it. Sounds great! Wonderful job.

Thanks

Wow! This is a fantastic submission. The piano is truly enchanting, and definitely puts a journey through your mind. There's a wide rage of dynamics and styles. Great job, best of luck in AIM!

This is an awesome song! The tune is dope and I absolutely love your synth pallet. However... godamn you need to "trust" your song more. And by that I mean your percussion is wayyyy too loud for the track. It overpowers the nice music you wrote. The transients are also overly massive but only because of the drums. I think a better mix would do this song a lot of justice.

Actually, 0:40-0:50 is a perfect example of the mix being fantastic. One of your synths has a bit of a "pluck" that almost acts as percussion and it sounds wonderful.

Also if I were you I'd figure out how to turn this into a bit of a longer track. Nothing too crazy, but you could definitely sell it with maybe about 45 more seconds.

CrispyCroc responds:

Yeah, you’re right about everything there :) I have a bad habit of cutting songs off short, and the percussion is way too overpowering... I will definitely keep your advice in mind for my future works, thank you so much for taking the time to write out a review, it means a lot! <3

Sounds really smooth and easy to listen to!

This song is especially striking in its.... "texture." What I mean is that the sound design is unique and really sounds original. Great job, and good luck in the contest! :)

Happy 10 year anniversary to this fantastic song! (It was uploaded on 4/30/10 and this review was made 4/30/20).That was completely coincidental, but I knew I had to leave a review because of the circumstances.

One thing I absolutely love about this is the fact that different instruments come from different "places" in the song (For example 0:27 or 0:31). Even after 10 years the song still holds up. It is jazzy as FUCK, and the lyrics are suggestive with a subtlety that is rarely seen in songs trying to accomplish the same goal.

I don't have much to say because it's just so fantastic. The OST for Tarboy was so masterful and this expanded song is no different.

This track is dope! You caught my attention at the beginning with those sound effects. I also like the fact that nothing in this song feels like filler.

I think a little more of an ending would have been nice, but this track is still great.

Thank you for detailed reply :) Hope you enjoyed this track! 8)

I was perusing the new audio submissions as I do every once in a while, and the "sound effects" introduction to this song really set you apart from everyone else. I have to say, it absolutely peaked my curiosity, and the payoff was very worth it! I love how I could totally see a chase sequence through this music.

I don't know if Waterflame was an inspiration or not but the breakbeat chiptune vibes really reminded me of a lot of his music (more specifically radiocutter, especially around 2:23) which isn't a bad thing at all.

This submission is a great way to kick-start 2020! If it wasn't obvious already, I enjoyed this song very much. 5/5

Preds responds:

Ayy, thank you so much!

Yes, Waterflame was a big inspiration on this one, Radiocutter and The Chase, were the songs that inspired me to do this.

Thanks again! Hope to see you around :)

I'm totally vibin' with this music. It's a bit experimental but that never hurt nobody.

Very epic!
